Basic Philosophy of the School of Regional Design

Utsunomiya University's mission is “to improve the welfare of mankind and contribute to world peace through distinctive high-quality education and research as an institution open to society.” Based on this idea, the School of Regional Design will strengthen its function to serve as a "Central Hub for Regional Revitalization" to help solve regional issues in the 21st century.

Therefore, the School of Regional Design has established its basic philosophy as "contributing to the realization of prosperous lives by promoting education, research, and community contributions related to the sustainable development of regions." In order to live out this philosophy, students are required to be able to act practically in the field in response to new issues in the community. To this end, we believe that it is important to acquire and apply specialized knowledge and skills from both the natural and social sciences, and we will organize and implement an educational curriculum that integrates the arts and sciences.
